Is it possible to create a button that is just an area that can be pressed?

As I see it now, when you place a button and assign the bmp to it, you press the bmp, not the transparent background. I would like to place a button that is only a transparent background. Then, to press the button you'd just have to hit the area defined by the border of the blank bmp assigned to the button.

This way you could create a background with buttons in the actual background then just place "blank" buttons on top. This could greatly increase the flexibility of how you make buttons.

Does this make any sense at all? If so, please let me know! Thanks.

do a search, if you do a png file you have different levels of transparency, I think someone said that if it is 90% transparent it would not show at all, but will be physically there so that you can press it

Anthony is correct. Any part of an image that is 100% transparent does not respond to touch. If it is just 99% transparent, it responds. You can only have partial transparency with PNGs.

Alright, I went home last night to check out the 'transparency' and set it to 90% or 99% or whatever. Here's the thing. I'm pretty sure both of you are coming from a TSU7000 point of view where as I'm in the 3000 club. In the edit software I couldn't find a place to define transparency except when it applied to the buttons BACKGROUND, not the whole image itself.

Any comments or ideas? Anything would be helpful! Thanks.

Edit: Also, can people download PCF for the 7000 onto the 3000 and just have it converted to greyscale?? Sorry for the newbie questions!

you need to create the level of transparency in a bitmap software such as paintshop pro or photoshop.

The 3000 does not use PNGs and so you cannot have partial transparency.

just make sure the shades of grey that you do not want to see are not duplicated within the button.

This is strange as I just made plain white buttons (.bmp files) on my RU-950 and ticked the 'use upper left corner for transparacy' marker on the edit software and it worked fine on my Pronto.

I did this so I can make an elaborate background that included my controls and it looked and worked ok - until my pronto went nuts (see other thread)
